Due to people of different cultures being part of an organization it is essential to know how to communicate with one another. For this to be effectively done, it is important to know the methods of communication for cross cultural. First, it is important to be aware that every culture is different and they have their own way of getting things done. Secondly, prepare yourself by getting information about the other person’s culture. For example, is it ethical to call the person by his/her last name, or is it ethical to shake hands ?. Thirtly, if meeting someone from not the same country as you, language and expressions plays a role. Being misunderstood is not a great part of a conversation, interpreting words can be ideal to understand better what is being said. Another reason for being informed and to use the correct language is because humor is often not welcome when communicating business with another culture. For example, having a meeting via an online platform may not get sufficient attention, and is not as easy as an in-person meeting. Tools for better communication in a multicultural workplace is:
